FRAGEN UND ANTWORTEN ÜBER SelfNet Minimize

Please review the most common Q&A below, compiled from inquiries received by our staff from customers and site visitors.

Q.
IS SELFNET A RESELLER OF ANOTHER COMPANY ?
A.
No. We purchase, house and maintain our own servers in Columbus and Dublin, Ohio - USA.

Q.
WHAT SERVER HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE DOES SELFNET USE ?
A.
We use the high availability enterprise-class IBM Netfinity and xSeries servers with fast SCSI RAID-5 disk arrays, dual Intel Pentium and Xeon CPUs, ECC SDRAM, UPS and redundant fault-tolerant network adapters. Our servers run Microsoft Windows Server OS, IIS and .NET software with the latest service packs and security patches.

Q.
HOW WILL MY WEB SITE BE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET ?
A.
SelfNet is now using T3 Internet connections. The speed of the T3 connection is 45 Mbits/sec, about 27 times faster than a T1 (1.5 Mbits/sec). SelfNet is committed to providing excellent speed and bandwidth, and adds additional hardware as needed to provide the fastest possible connection to the Internet.

Q.
HOW MANY WEBS ARE LOCATED ON A SINGLE SELFNET HOST SERVER ?
A.
There are 50-128 virtual servers per single host system. We closely monitor our servers and keep the server load significantly below the capacity of the systems. We guarantee that at no point of time this number will exceed 128!

Q.
WHO DO I CONTACT WITH A QUESTION OR PROBLEM ?
A.
If you need to contact SelfNet, please visit our Contacts page.

Q.
WHAT IS A VIRTUAL SERVER ?
A.
Virtual server host is a system in which a single computer handles multiple IP addresses, domain names and web sites. This allows a single machine to act as many separate servers. The design of our SelfNet Virtual Server System allows us to maximize customer's use, control, access speed and design of their own web sites. Don't let the word "virtual" fool you - it performs, looks and feels like your own to everybody on the Internet and yourself. It also costs substantially less than purchasing and maintaining your own server hardware and software.

Q.
HOW MANY HITS CAN A VIRTUAL SERVER SUPPORT ?
A.
Our virtual servers are designed to handle a medium to high hit load (under 50,000 hits a day). If a site begins to receive over 50,000 hits a day web page response may begin to be effected.

Q. DOES SELFNET HOST ADULT WEBSITES ?
A.
No - SelfNet doesn't allow adult material of any kind on their servers. Please see our Usage Policy.

Q.
ARE THERE ANY OTHER SITE CONTENT RESTRICTIONS ?
A.
Yes - please see our Usage Policy if you have questions about what type of content we allow on our servers.

Q. DO YOU SUPPORT INTERNATIONAL DOMAIN NAMES ?
A.
Yes, it is possible to register international domain names and use them with our servers. However, we cannot register certain domains for you. We are only allowed to register *.com, *.org, and *.net domain names. If you still prefer to use a foreign extension on your SelfNet server, you must contact us at administrator@selfnet.com before registering the domain name in
your country.

Q.
CAN ORDER A BASIC ACCOUNT AND UPGRADE LATER ?
A.
